1846 - 1865
In the year 1847 Københavns skakforening ( Copenhagen chess
club ) had to close down due to the demand from the monarchy
to pay tax.
The chess masters in Copenhagen then had to practise their
passion on various restaurants and cafees, among which were :

Kehlets kaffehus
Østergade 55

Hotel d´Angleterre
Kgs.Nytorv

Kafeerne "Himmerrige" og "Helvede"
h.h.v.Købmagergade 47 og 49 ( på hvert sit hjørne af Skinder-
gade )

Svendsens restauration
Hjørnet af Nørrebrogade og Dosseringen

A new generation of strong players came up :

    Magnus Oscar Møllerstrøm
    Severin From
    Govert Nielsen
    Søren Anton Sørensen

They were more serious about chess, games were taken
down more often, and the leading masters published articles
in "Deutsche schachzeitung" the most famous one are of course
the analyse of the From gambit 1862.

The game were played by correspondance, Møllerstrøm who
had taught From to play chess, and eventually couldn´t win a
single game ( o.t.b. ) thought that a correspondance game
were the only way to win, but From proved otherwise.
